Trip Highlights

Kumana National Park

In Kumana National Park, we will explore the home of leopards and experience the unique thrill of staying overnight in bungalows nestled in the heart of the park.

Sinharaja Rainforest

In the Sinharaja Rainforest, we will discover a true paradise for birdwatchers and will have the opportunity to observe rare and endemic species (such as owls, scops owls, and primates) up close thanks to the monitoring work of our guides.

Udawalawe National Park

In Udawalawe National Park we will encounter Sri Lanka’s large mammals (elephants, buffalo, sloth bears) and admire an incredible variety of birds and reptiles in an extraordinary natural environment.

Day 1

Flight from Italy

Day 2

Meet your guide at the airport and transfer south for your first photography excursion to spot owls and flying foxes. Overnight stay near Yala.

Day 3

Breakfast and transfer to Kumana National Park. First night in a bungalow inside the park.

Days 4 and 5

Kumana National Park Full-Day Safari. Overnight stay in a bungalow inside the park.

Days 6 and 7

Kumana National Park Full-Day Safari. Overnight in Kumana, accommodation outside the park.

Day 8

Safari to Udawalawe National Park and transfer to Sinharaja. Night in Sinharaja.

Days 9 and 10

Full Day Wildlife Photography and Birdwatching inside the Sinharaja Rainforest.

Transfer from Sinharaja to Negombo. Night in Negombo.

Important information for traveling to Sri Lanka



Overnight stay inside Kumana National Park

Why did we choose to stay inside Kumana National Park? The park opens at 6:00 a.m., and the bungalows are located in the best areas in the heart of the park for leopard spotting, over an hour’s drive from the entrance. Being there already, we’ll have the best light, the best viewing angles, and more time to take advantage of the situation without having to give way to other jeeps.



Tips for the Sinharaja Rainforest

In the Sinharaja Forest, we’ll have plenty of opportunities to spot unique and endemic species, such as the Serendib Scops Owl, discovered only in the early 2000s. In this forest, long pants and high shoes are recommended. Mosquito spray is mandatory.



Recommended photographic equipment

All types of lenses are useful. From a 70/200, which will prove decisive for birds of prey like owls or eagles that often lurk on low branches just a few meters from the jeep, to telephoto lenses up to 800mm for distant wildlife.


